SLIDELL, La. (AP) - The St. Tammany Parish coroner says an autopsy is scheduled Monday on a man who apparently drowned after drinking with friends, then going into a lake.

Dr. Charles Preston says 28-year-old Joshua Entrekin went into Lake Pontchartrain on Saturday and never resurfaced.

Emergency responders were sent to the area south of Slidell called Northshore Beach, and found Entrekin’s body.

Preston says in a news release that mixing alcohol and waterways is dangerous, whether you’re swimming or boating.

He says that on Friday, he received a letter from the state Department of Health and Hospitals about the fact that Louisiana has the nation’s third-highest drowning rate.
