SNELLVILLE, Ga. (AP) - A former Gwinnett County high school teacher accused of having a sexual relationship with a student is facing charges.

Multiple media outlets report 53-year-old Therese Gunn of Grayson has been charged with one count of sexual assault and three counts of contributing to the delinquency of a minor. She turned herself in to authorities Friday.

Police say Gunn, who was a teacher at South Gwinnett High School, began the ongoing relationship with a 17-year-old male student in March. The investigation began April 20 after the student’s mother went to police.

Officials say Gunn resigned the day before.

Police also say they discovered that Gunn smoked marijuana with several students after inviting them to her home for a party.

Gunn was released on bond. It’s unclear whether she has an attorney.
