POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. (AP) - Payton Henson scored 18 points and grabbed eight rebounds, and Trae Bell-Haynes had nine points and 10 assists as Vermont held off Marist 76-72 on Wednesday night.

Anthony Lamb made a 3-pointer with 9:48 left to give Vermont a 55-45 lead. Marist went on a 14-4 run to tie it at 59 when Khallid Hart made a layup with 6:09 left.

The Foxes took the lead 69-68 off Hart’s steal and layup with 2:28 remaining. But Henson immediately responded with a layup off a feed from Bell-Haynes and the Catamounts never trailed again.

Lamb finished with 13 points as both he and Henson each shot 6 of 10 from the floor. Dre Wills added 11 points off the bench for Vermont (2-1).

The Catamounts raced to an 18-9 lead and led 37-29 at intermission after forcing Marist into 12 first-half turnovers.



Hart scored 21 for Marist (0-3) on 7-of-14 shooting while contributing five assists and five steals.
