TAHOE CITY, Calif. (AP) - Authorities are investigating the cause of an early morning fire that destroyed a house on the west shore of Lake Tahoe near Tahoe City, California.

North Tahoe Fire Protection District spokeswoman Beth Kenna says no injuries have been reported. She says no one was at home when the blaze was reported at 5:51 a.m. Thursday.

Kenna told the Sierra Sun (https://tinyurl.com/gmp3bjr) the house was 80 percent engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived at the intersection of State Highway 89 and Sequoia Avenue about a mile south of where the Truckee River empties out of Lake Tahoe.

Crews from the Squaw Valley and Truckee fire protection districts also responded to the incident.

Kenna says they were able to keep the flames from spreading into neighboring trees and homes. But she says the structure has collapsed.
