LYNCHBURG, Va. (AP) - Liberty University says athletic director Jeff Barber is resigning, effective immediately.

The school made the announcement on its website. It gave no reason for the decision.

In the announcement, school President Jerry Falwell says Barber is “a wonderful person and has committed a decade to Liberty University. We have accomplished many great things under Jeff’s leadership. We will now look to build upon the strong foundation he helped establish.”

Barber said his nearly 11 years at Liberty have been “a blessing for my family and me” and he wished the university well in the future.

His biographical information has already been removed from the university website.
