FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) - A southwest Florida man has been captured several hours after being shot by a deputy during a confrontation and fleeing.

The News-Press (https://goo.gl/nFgVUL ) reports that 24-year-old Rones Sagesse was arrested by Lee County deputies early Thursday morning.

The sheriff’s office says deputies had responded to a domestic disturbance Wednesday evening in a Fort Myers neighborhood. Sgt. Matt McDaniel says a man engaged a deputy, and the deputy shot him in the leg. The man fled, but he was later captured after the sheriff’s office called in K-9s and helicopters to search the area.

It wasn’t known what charges Sagesse would face. The jail website’s most recent booking record for him was from October, when he was charged with resisting an officer with violence.

Sagesse is black. Authorities didn’t immediately release the name or race of the deputy who shot Sagesse.
