SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (AP) - The ride-sharing service Uber is now up and running in the southwest Missouri city of Springfield.

The service began Thursday, three days after the Springfield City Council adopted new rules for transportation network companies like Uber.

The Uber app will allow drivers to pick up passengers only in places that allow Uber. Branson, which is 44 miles south of Springfield, is not in the service area.
