INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Ron Patterson scored a career-high 15 points and IUPUI defeated Howard 77-55 on Friday in the subregional portion of the 2K Classic.

Patterson was 4 of 8 from the arc, T.J. Henderson had three 3-pointers in scoring 14 points with Darell Combs adding 11 points and Matt O’Leary getting his second career double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds for the Jaguars (1-2).

Charles Williams made 9 of 10 free throws and scored 15 points for the Bison (0-3). Marcel Boyd added 11 points and eight rebounds and James Miller 10 points.

The Bison are still without senior guard James Daniel, who was their leading scorer last year at 27.1 points per game. He hasn’t played this season because of a high ankle sprain.

Jaguars led from the outset and stayed ahead by double figures from the 11-minute mark of the first half.

IUPUI will play Eastern Michigan in Saturday’s subregional championship with Howard taking on Gardner-Webb in the consolation game.
