NEW YORK (AP) - Police say a 59-year-old delivery driver was killed when he swerved to avoid a parked car and was struck by a box truck in Manhattan’s Upper West Side.

Officers were dispatched to 88th Street and Broadway around 11:30 a.m. Thursday and found Jing Yin Jiang unconscious and unresponsive following the collision.

Jiang was rushed to Mount Sinai St. Luke’s Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Witnesses say Jiang suffered a massive head injury. He was reportedly not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash.

The 30-year-old driver of the National Retail Transportation truck remained at the scene.

The crash remains under investigation.

Neighbors said Jiang lived a quiet life with his wife and adult son.
