BATON ROUGE, La. (AP) - Baton Rouge police have identified the suspect arrested in a shooting on Southern University’s campus in Baton Rouge.

Sgt. L’Jean Mckneely Jr. says the man in custody is 20-year-old Larry McCray, of Reserve. He faces a charge of attempted first-degree murder. It was unknown if he’s represented by an attorney.

The victim, whose name has not been released, remains in critical condition.

Mckneely and university officials say neither the victim nor McCray is a Southern student.

The university was placed on lockdown while police investigated the shooting late Thursday. That lockdown was lifted early Friday morning.
