SALEM, N.H. (AP) - Authorities in New Hampshire say a man was arrested after he tried to use a stolen identity to renew his driver’s license in Salem.

The suspect pleaded not guilty Thursday to tampering with public records and unsworn falsification. He remains jailed on $20,000 bail. It wasn’t immediately known if he had a lawyer.

State police say they were called to the Division of Motor Vehicles on Wednesday. They were told that the man who identified himself as 28-year-old Rolando Javier Dominguez Velez of Gilmanton was attempting to renew his license. It was suspected that he had used false information when he obtained his license.

Authorities say an investigation revealed he had used a stolen identity to get the license in 2010. Police are still working to find his true identity.
