AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - The state has confirmed that Democrat Robert Duchesne indeed won a House seat in a close race.

Just 25 votes separated Duchesne and GOP candidate Gary Drinkwater for the House District 121 seat.

Drinkwater requested a recount after unofficial results showed he lost by a narrow margin. The recount shows Drinkwater receive 2,193 votes, compared with 2,218 votes for Duchesne, who was elected in 2014 and also served from 2004 to 2012.

The district includes Alton, Corinth, Hudson, Milford and the unorganized territory of Argyle Township. The Secretary of State’s office manually reviewed each ballot to figure out the official vote tally.

Republicans gained three House seats in this month’s election, but Democrats maintain a majority with 77 seats.
