SPRINGFIELD, Mass. (AP) - Springfield police are investigating the city’s 11th homicide of the year.

Police on Friday identified the man shot in the city Wednesday night as 38-year-old Eric Caudle.

Officers responding to the city’ automated gunfire detection system found Caudle at about 8:45 p.m. Wednesday in the city’s Six Corners neighborhood suffering from a gunshot wound. Police and then emergency medical technicians provided CPR at the scene. The victim was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead just after 10 p.m.

Police have not disclosed a possible motive for the shooting and say there have been no arrests.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call police.
