PHOENIX (AP) - The Arizona Department of Public Safety says heavy deployments of state troopers are planned on several so-called safety corridors along other highways statewide during the Thanksgiving holiday period.

The DPS says the holiday safety corridors where drivers will see a large numbers of troopers Wednesday through Sunday are Interstate 17 between north Phoenix and Flagstaff, Interstate 10 between Phoenix and Tucson and State Route 87 between Mesa and Payson.

Highway Patrol Capt. Eric Anspach says speeding is typically a primary or secondary factor in serious injury or fatal collisions.

Anspach says troopers will be looking for drivers who are speeding, those with distracted driving behavior and those who are tired or impaired.
