PATERSON, N.J. (AP) - One man was killed and another was wounded when shots rang out on a Paterson street.

But a motive for the shooting remains under investigation.

City authorities say the men were standing together on a street corner when they were shot just before 3 p.m. Friday on Rosa Parks Boulevard near Godwin Avenue.

Both victims were taken to a hospital, where one man died a short time later. The other remained hospitalized Saturday in stable condition.

Further details on the shooting, including what type of weapon was used, have not been released. Authorities also have not released the victims’ names.

The slaying is Paterson’s 20th homicide of the year.
