JACKSONVILLE, N.C. (AP) - People who can’t afford the over-the-counter medications they need can get some for free at an event in Jacksonville.

The Daily News of Jacksonville reports (https://bit.ly/2fCv7RI ) the Over the Counter Medicine Giveaway will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday at Jacksonville Commons Recreation Complex.

Old North State Medical Foundation is working with NC MedAssist and community volunteers to host the giveaway.

The event is free and open to anyone over the age of 18. No identification is required. Each person will be able to choose up to 10 items.

The event is targeting a six-county region including Onslow, Carteret, Jones, Duplin, Craven and Pamlico counties.

Officials expect about 1,500 people to attend. They have medications for about 2,000.
