BRICK, N.J. (AP) - A man who allegedly drove off from a traffic stop and dragged an officer about 50 feet earlier this month has turned himself in to authorities.

Brick police say 34-year-old township resident John Carter faces several counts, including aggravated assault. His bail was set at $75,000 and it wasn’t known Saturday if he’s retained an attorney.

Authorities say township police stopped Carter’s car on Nov. 7 and soon learned he was wanted on two warrants. But when he refused to get out of his vehicle, one officer reached through an open window and tried to open a car door.

Carter then allegedly drove off with the officer’s arm stuck in the window frame.

The officer suffered an arm injury but refused medical treatment.
