SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (AP) - Officials expect a train derailment will keep a street in Sioux City closed all week.

On Friday, the Ellis & Eastern Railroad was switching cars on Rice Street when three cars derailed while passing through the crossing. No one was hurt, but the road was damaged, making it impassable to motorists.

City officials say crews are expected to set the cars back on the track over the weekend. On Monday, a rail contractor will begin work to remove and replace the entire crossing, a process that could take most of the week.

The crossing is more than 50 years old and was scheduled to be replaced next spring. The new crossing is expected to last 50 years.
