SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Authorities say two men are expected to survive after being shot in an exchange of gunfire near Liberty Park in Salt Lake City.

Police say the men were in separate cars when shots were fired between the vehicles about 5 p.m. Saturday.

When officers arrived, they located one man with a bullet wound in his leg sitting inside a car punctured by shots. He was conscious and transported to a hospital in good condition.

Police later got a call about a second man who was at a hospital with a wound to the lower body.

Investigators say the two men were on opposite sides of the gunfire.

It’s still unclear who was driving the cars and whether there were other occupants.

Police still are investigating what triggered the gunfire.
