BEACON FALLS, Conn. (AP) - A Connecticut State Police trooper has been injured by an allegedly drunken driver who struck a cruiser.
A department spokeswoman says the trooper was conducting a traffic stop on state Route 8 in Beacon Falls at about 6:30 p.m. Sunday when the cruiser was struck.
The trooper was inside the vehicle at the time and was taken to Yale-New Haven Hospital with minor injuries.
State police spokeswoman Kelly Grant says the operator of the car, 52-year-old Jeffrey Stella, wasn’t injured. The Southbury man was charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and other offenses.
It wasn’t immediately known if he has an attorney.
The trooper’s name wasn’t immediately disclosed.
