FLORENCE, Ala. (AP) - Lauderdale County Detention Center officials say an employee has been arrested, accused of bringing contraband into the jail.

WAAY-TV (https://bit.ly/2fNIsE5 ) reports Brandon Pate was arrested as he reported to work Thursday afternoon.

Pate was charged with promoting prison contraband in the third degree. Officials say he was caught bringing in tobacco, a cellphone and other products.

He was processed into the facility where he worked. Bond was set at $1,000. It was unknown if Pate has an attorney who could speak on his behalf.

Pate was immediately terminated from his job upon his arrest. Officials say he had been a corrections deputy for three weeks.
