HUNTSVILLE, Texas (AP) - Aurimas Majauskas had 17 points and eight rebounds as Sam Houston State held off Idaho 69-62 on Friday night.

Torry Butler had 12 points and Paul Baxter added 11 for Sam Houston State (4-2).

SHSU was up 32-30 at the break.

The Bearkats led until Nick Blair split a pair of free throws to give Idaho its first lead, going ahead 40-39 with 14:23 left to play. Sam Houston’s Phillip Jones Jr. answered with a dunk to retake the advantage and the teams traded the lead until Majauskas had a layup and Jovante’ Spivey hit two free throws for a 59-57 advantage with 4:27 remaining.

SHSU was just 4 of 17 from long range but made 22 of 48 field-goal attempts while limiting Idaho (3-2) to 16-of-43 shooting.

Victor Sanders had 14 points, Brayon Blake had 12 with eight rebounds and Trevon Allen chipped in 10 for the Vandals.
