ARBUTUS, Md. (AP) - Baltimore County police say a man who provoked a major law enforcement response when officers thought he was holed up in an apartment with a gun has turned himself in.

Police say 29-year-old Justin Montgomery of Arbutus surrendered peacefully on Saturday morning.

Montgomery is suspected in two robberies in Baltimore city on Friday. In the first robbery, city police say he stole a gun.

Then, police say Montgomery went to his apartment in Arbutus and pointed a gun at another person inside, telling that person to leave. Police surrounded the apartment and temporarily asked people living nearby to stay in place. Several hours passed and when officers went inside, the apartment was empty.

Charges are pending against Montgomery.
