ASBURY, Iowa (AP) - The firing of Asbury’s parks director is being questioned by board members who oversaw his work.

Parks board member Ken Resch tells The Dubuque Telegraph Herald (https://bit.ly/2gMRiWC ) that the firing of Jason Thieme last Wednesday was a surprise.

Resch says he was extremely satisfied with Thieme’s work, so he sent a letter to the mayor and city council expressing his frustration.

City officials confirmed that Thieme was fired on Wednesday but wouldn’t discuss the reason.

Resch says the board deserves at least a basic explanation.

For the part-time parks director position, Thieme made $14,251.78 in 2015.
