Luke Skywalker doesn’t think the Force is with Donald Trump.
In an interview with the Daily Beast, actor Mark Hamill unloaded on the president-elect and almost repeated Hillary Clinton’s (in)famous turn of phrase about a “basket of deplorables.”
“I’m in total denial,” he told the site. “If you look at what’s being assembled for our government it’s like, yikes. It’s a who’s-who of really despicable people.”
The Daily Beast noted that several Trump appointees have been accused of anti-Semitism, racism, Nazi-sympathies and other pathologies.
Mr. Hamill said that while he’s happy to have a new show to work on to “take my mind off what’s going on,” he urged Americans not to despair.
“It’s tempting to say, ‘Well, I’m moving to Canada, I can’t stand it,’” he says. “But in other ways, it’s a challenge to stay and defend your country and do what you think is right and not retreat and hide under the covers. It’s not gonna be easy, that’s for sure.”
As Yoda put it: “Do, or do not. There is no try.”
