SEQUOIA NATIONAL PARK, Calif. (AP) - Search and rescue crews are looking for a missing Arizona hiker believed to be somewhere in central California’s Sequoia National Park.

The National Park Service says crews began mobilizing Sunday to search for 41-year-old Vince Scalise of Phoenix.

The agency says Scalise was supposed to return from a five-day backpacking trip on Wednesday, but hasn’t been seen. The park service says it was notified about Scalise on Saturday night.

The area where Scalise is believed missing has been getting rain and snow, with overnight temperatures dipping below freezing.
