SHEEP SPRINGS, N.M. (AP) - The FBI and Navajo Nation Division of Public Safety are investigating an apparent homicide in the small New Mexico town of Sheep Springs.

FBI officials say a suspect is in tribal custody and federal charges are pending the outcome of an investigation into Friday night’s incident.

They say the victim is an adult Navajo woman whose name isn’t being released at this time.

FBI officials say the woman was stabbed several times, but the exact cause of death is pending an autopsy.
