COLUMBUS, Miss. (AP) - Columbus police say firefighters called to a grass fire found a burning car - and when the fire was out, they found a man’s body near the car.

Lowndes County Coroner Greg Merchant tells WCBI-TV (https://bit.ly/2fX2cVN ) that there was evidence of a gunshot wound.

WTVA-TV reports (https://bit.ly/2gBZ6HQ ) that the man was 18 years old.

Authorities say his body was found several feet from the car early Monday morning.

Officials say the man’s name is being withheld because investigators are trying to notify his family.

Police have not arrested anyone.
