SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - Prosecutors have filed a juvenile criminal case in the death of a police officer who authorities say was fatally struck by a stolen car driven by three teenagers.

Salt Lake County District Attorney Sim Gill refused to say Monday what charges were filed or how many defendants are accused in the sealed case.

Police have said a 14-year-old and two 15-year-old males were in a stolen car that struck West Valley City Police Officer Cody Brotherson during the chase.

Many juvenile court hearings in Utah are open to the public, but some proceedings against underage defendants are not publicly accessible.

Authorities haven’t said whether they believe the teens intentionally struck the 25-year-old officer.

Brotherson had gotten out of his car to lay out tire-punching equipment designed to stop the car when he was killed Nov. 6.
