SURF CITY, N.C. (AP) - A center in southeastern North Carolina has received its first cold-stunned sea turtles of the season.

The Daily News of Jacksonville reported (https://bit.ly/2gzFGlD ) the Karen Beasley Turtle Rescue and Rehabilitation Center received nine of the turtles Sunday evening.

Last year the center in Surf City helped rehabilitate 92 cold-stunned turtles. At least one of last year’s group is still at the center recovering from the problem.

Jean Beasley has already named the nine turtles she has, all using a Harry Potter theme. Some of the names include Hogwart, Dumbledore, Muggle, Molly, and Weasley.

Most turtles move to warmer weather when the ocean gets colder but some don’t get out in time.

Beasley says some of the damage can be serious, depending on how long the turtles are in cold water.
