PLYMOUTH, N.H. (AP) - Plymouth State University is dedicating a new “Open Laboratory” designed to give students, faculty, community and business leaders space to collaborate, learn and succeed.

The new lab, located in the university’s Lamson Learning College, is part of the school’s plan to transform itself. Instead of the current 24 undergraduate academic departments, the university will have seven theme-based interdisciplinary clusters, such as Innovation and Entrepreneurship, Arts and Technology and Democracy and Social Change.

The new lab is being dedicated Monday in memory of Ray Burton, a Plymouth State alumnus and long-serving member of the governor’s Executive Council.
