JAL, N.M. (AP) - A Texas-based trucking company is building a new yard in southeastern New Mexico.

The Hobbs News-Sun reports (https://goo.gl/l0PywZ) Coastal Plains Trucking plans to bring 20 trucks and at least 60 drivers to the company’s new yard in Jal once it’s built.

The Jal City Council last week approved the sale of 7.2 acres of property to Coastal after the city exercises its option to purchase the land back from a developer that initially sought to build a motel.

Coastal Plains General Manager Todd Sims told the Hobbs News-Sun the company’s trucking yard’s move from Monahans, Texas, into Jal comes at the right time.

He says Jal is an area the company needs to be.
