WILDWOOD, N.J. (AP) - A popular Jersey shore roller coaster is being taken apart piece by piece as part of a $5 million rebuilding project.

The Great Nor’Easter roller coaster on Morey’s Pier in Wildwood is having its track replaced and will have a new paint scheme when it reopens next year.

The Press of Atlantic City reports (https://bit.ly/2fi8MqH ) that the 2,100-foot-long roller coaster is being rehabbed by the Dutch company that built it, Vekoma.

The coaster has been a favorite of riders since it started pulling riders into the air before dropping them down nearly 100 feet at more than 50 mph 21 years ago.
