KEWAUNEE, Wis. (AP) - Authorities have recovered the body of a Green Bay man from Lake Michigan.

Kewaunee Police Chief Frank Salentine says the body of 43-year-old Robert Umentum was pulled from the Kewaunee Harbor just after 10:30 a.m. Monday.

Emergency crews had been searching the area since about 3 a.m., when someone who lives nearby called to report someone yelling for help along the shoreline.

Police believe Umentum had been fishing from a pier and fell into the water. Fishing tackle and personal items were seen in the water.

The police chief says conditions were calm so they don’t know why Umentum fell into the harbor. He also said it’s not unusual for someone to be fishing there late at night.
