BRICK TOWNSHIP, N.J. (AP) - Police are seeking a motorist who they say drove off from a traffic stop, dragging an officer about 50 feet.

Brick police stopped the beige BMW driven by 34-year-old John Carter around 10 p.m. Monday. Police say Carter turned over his driver’s license but refused to exit the vehicle after officers learned there were two outstanding warrants.

Police say Carter locked the driver’s door and accelerated when Sgt. Erik Olsen reached in the widow to unlock it. Olsen’s arm became stuck in the window frame.

Olsen refused medical treatment.

Olsen will face aggravated assault and other charges when he’s apprehended.
