DENVER (AP) - Authorities say a suspect was killed and a suburban Denver police officer injured in a shooting.

Aurora police say the officer’s injuries in the Tuesday shooting aren’t life-threatening. He was hospitalized in stable condition.

Police say the suspect was pronounced dead at the scene. Spokesman John White says Aurora officers had followed the man into Denver, believing he was involved in a deadly shooting earlier in the day. Police traced the suspect to a home in Denver.

White says a “confrontation” took place when the suspect left the home, and at least one officer swapped gunfire with the suspect.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.
