TORRINGTON, Wyo. (AP) - The Western Sugar Cooperative is set to lay off about 70 workers as it prepares to convert its sugar beet factory into a storage and shipping facility.

KTWO-AM reports (https://bit.ly/2enW9MQ ) that the sugar beet factory in Torrington will close next month before the conversion.

Processing operations are being moved to Nebraska and Colorado.

The Sugar Cooperative began to phase out the Torrington facility in spring of 2015, but will fully close the plant in November.
