RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - A Richmond man walked away unharmed after narrowly missing a nearly 50 pound metal rod that pierced through the windshield of his car.

WWBT-TV reported Tuesday (https://bit.ly/2dJCPec) that John Wyatt says he’s lucky to be alive following the incident which happened while he was driving on Interstate 64.

Wyatt says he saw the rod fly off a truck traveling in front of him.

The rod, which was at least two feet long, slammed into Wyatt’s windshield, impaling itself through the glass, missing Wyatt by inches.

Wyatt says the incident happened so quickly, he had little time to protect himself. After getting safely to the side of the road, he called police. He was able to snap pictures from inside the vehicle, showing just how close the rod came from him.
