LONG VIEW, N.C. (AP) - Two brothers have been accused of killing a 78-year-old Catawba County man whose body was discovered in a shallow grave.

News outlets report that investigators on Wednesday found the body of Benny Daniels, who had last been seen Saturday night in Long View.

That discovery prompted deputies to charge Thomas Ball and his brother, Rodney Ball, with murder. Thomas Ball and a woman, Tabitha Harrison, had previously been charged with breaking into Daniels’ home.

Sheriff Coy Reid says Thomas Ball and Harrison had rented a basement apartment at Daniels’ home but apparently left in a hurry.

No further information has been released about the discovery of Daniels’ body or a possible cause of death.

It is unclear whether any of the suspects have an attorney to comment on the charges.
