MILLVILLE, N.J. (AP) - New Jersey State Police say a trooper has been hospitalized after he lost control of his cruiser and crashed into a tree.

Sgt. 1st Class Gregory Williams says the trooper had been driving on state Route 49 in Millville Wednesday afternoon when his car ran off the road and struck a tree.

The trooper, who is assigned to the Bridgeton barracks, was taken to a hospital in Vineland. His condition wasn’t immediately known.

Further details weren’t immediately available.

The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
