SIKESTON, Mo. (AP) - A southeast Missouri woman is celebrating her birthday by providing free meals for police officers.

KFVS-TV (https://bit.ly/2efnrCa ) reports that JoAnn Eastep of Sikeston, who has spina bifida, turned 41 on Friday.

Instead of receiving gifts for her birthday, Eastep gave 115 vouchers for a meal at the Grecian Steak House in Sikeston. Ninety of the vouchers will go to police in Sikeston, and 25 to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Eastep can’t walk but works folding clothes to save money to buy the vouchers, which cover a meal, salad, drink and the tip.

Eastep says she simply wants the officers to know they are appreciated.

It’s the second straight year Eastep has provided vouchers for Sikeston police. She added the highway patrol this year.
