JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - A suspect charged with capital murder in the death of an 81-year-old Pearl man has been released from jail because she’s pregnant.

Local news outlets report court records filed Friday show 24-year-old Loren Blackwell was released from the custody of the Hinds County Sheriff’s Department on her own recognizance, but remains on house arrest.

The judge has instructed her attorney to notify the court six weeks following the child’s birth to schedule a status conference.

Blackwell was arrested last September on charges of murder and auto theft in the death of Lee Kendrick, who was found shot in the head in an abandoned apartment in northeast Jackson.

Another suspect, Walter Lee Young, was also accused in the case and faces the same charges.

Documents show Blackwell is 34 weeks pregnant.
