STARKVILLE, Miss. (AP) - A former Starkville Academy baseball coach has pleaded guilty to charges that he tried to lure children for sexual purposes.

Local news outlets report 31-year-old Jody Wayne Britt pleaded guilty Monday in Oktibbeha County to two counts of luring a child to engage in sexually explicit computer communication.

Affidavits show Britt sent multiple sexual messages to two female Starkville Academy students and requested that they send him pictures of themselves. He was arrested last September on two counts of enticement of a child, which were later dropped.

Britt had already left Starkville Academy and was working at Ridgeland High School at the time of his arrest. He faces up to six years in prison when sentenced Nov. 14.

Britt’s attorney C. Martin Haug declined to comment on the case.
