GREENVILLE, Miss. (AP) - A former Indianola police officer is charged with murder in the shooting death of a Greenville man.

The Delta Democrat-Times reports (https://bit.ly/2eZ2H4L ) 23-year-old Quavares Pulliam was arrested Thursday and remained in the Washington County Regional Correctional Facility on Friday, without bond. Jail records do not show whether he is represented by an attorney.

Greenville Assistant Police Chief Michael Merchant says officers started looking for Pulliam after 32-year-old Dwight Theford was found shot once and lying in a road early Thursday.

Theford was taken to Delta Regional Medical Center, where he later died. His death was Greenville’s 10th homicide of the year.

Police did not immediately reveal a motive for the shooting.
