WILLISTON, Vt. (AP) - Vermont State Police are seeking to build a new barracks in Chittenden County.

WCAX-TV (https://bit.ly/2dsi1qg ) reports that state police have looked at four state-owned locations in the county but those sites didn’t fit the criteria needed to build.

The state is considering buying property to build the barracks in Chittenden County. It says it’s looking at building on 8 to 10 acres of land within two miles of Exit 11 off Interstate 89 in Richmond, Exit 12 in Williston, Exit 13 in Shelburne or Exit 16 in Colchester.

It’s reviewing a number of proposals from private landowners.

Troopers are currently working out of a barracks in Williston off Exit 12.
