WEST POINT, Va. (AP) - Authorities say a training grenade was found at the West Point Historical Society.

King William County Fire Chief Andy Aigner tells The Daily Press that the staff at the historical social called police just before 11 a.m. Monday to report the device. The society’s director says the grenade had been donated to the organization.

Officials say buildings in the 700 block of Main Street were evacuated.

Virginia State Police Sgt. Stephan Vick said in an email that bomb squad agents removed the grenade and took it to a safe location to be disposed of.
