D’IBERVILLE, Miss. (AP) - State authorities will investigate after a Mississippi deputy shot the driver of a stolen truck following a high-speed chase.

Jackson County Sheriff Mike Ezell tells local news outlets the shooting happened Monday night.

Ezell says a high-speed chase that began on Interstate 10 in Jackson County ended in D’Iberville. D’Iberville Police Chief Wayne Payne says after crashing into several vehicles including of a police car, the pickup stopped and that’s when shots were fired by the deputy.

Payne says the pickup driver and the driver of one of the cars he hit were taken to a local hospital. Their conditions were unknown Tuesday morning.

Police haven’t released the name of the person shot or the name of the deputy.
