SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Authorities say a California Highway Patrol officer who was struck by a suspect’s car is recovering and the suspect is in serious condition after being shot by police.

KNTV reports (https://bit.ly/2evpLHq ) the incident happened Tuesday evening on the border of San Francisco and Daly City. The names of the officer and the suspect were not released.

The CHP says the officer suffered minor head and road rash injuries after being struck by the stolen car the suspect was driving. He is hospitalized in fair condition.

San Francisco police say members of a task force unit had surrounded the stolen car when the suspect tried to take off, hitting the officer. The suspect was then shot. It is unclear whether the suspect was carrying a weapon.

The incident remains under investigation.
