GREEN OAK TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - Two men have drowned while on a crew removing buoys from a lake in Livingston County.

Green Oak Township police identified them as Clarkston residents who were 38 years old and 20 years old. They drowned while trying to help two co-workers whose boat was sinking Friday night in Hidden Lake.

Police believe cold water and a sudden drop-off in water depth may have contributed to the drownings. The men weren’t wearing life jackets.

Two people in the sinking boat survived.
