ARLINGTON, Iowa (AP) - Authorities say about 60 hogs died when a truck hauling the animals veered off a highway in Fayette County and rolled onto its side.

The sheriff’s office says 45-year-old Scott Childers was driving a truck hauling the hogs when he veered onto the shoulder and lost control. The trailer eventually came to rest on its side in a ditch.

About 60 of the 200 hogs in the trailer were killed.

Childers, who wasn’t seriously injured, was cited with failure to maintain control.
